The Residential Care Manual

The Residential Care Manual (RCM) is no longer being updated and should not be relied upon as an accurate source of information for approved providers. PDFs of the RCM will remain available as a resource to users for historical purposes only.

The Guide to Aged Care Law

The Department of Social Services (the Department) has identified an opportunity to enhance the way it presents information to aged care stakeholders. The Department in consultation with aged care stakeholders has developed the Guide to Aged Care Law (the Guide).

The Guide, an online resource designed to be an easy to use, plain-English guide, will help assist both approved providers and consumers understand their responsibilities and obligations under the Aged Care Act 1997.

The Guide will provide users with the latest information relating to:

  • residential care;
  • home care;
  • flexible care; and
  • residential respite care.

The Guide can be accessed online at http://guides.dss.gov.au/. You may wish to add this URL to your internet favourites as a quick link.

Feedback and Assistance

The Department is seeking feedback on the Guide. Your feedback will help us enhance the usability of the Guide and make improvements to how and what information is presented via the Guide.

If you would like to provide feedback to the Department on the Guide or if you require assistance or have any queries in relation to the Guide, or the discontinuation of the RCM, please email the Department at AgedCareGuide@dss.gov.au.
